Grimsby

The Village of Grimsby was incorporated in 1876 and officially became a town in 1922. It was initially named after a fishing town in Lincolnshire, UK because of its own successful fishing industry but later became a hub for fruit-growing, with wineries and distilleries following shortly after.

Grimsby sits on the shores of Lake Ontario within the Niagara Region. With more than 30 parks and dozens of green spaces, parkettes and trails, the village is also home to the famous gingerbread houses, also known as “The Painted Ladies of Grimsby.” These brightly coloured cottages can be found within the historic area of Grimsby beach and bring delight to tourists and residents alike.
